Overview

Company Overview
Envision Health Access Initiative (EHAI) is a non-profit organization whose mission is to increase access to HIV care. They aim to combat the HIV pandemic and ensure that everyone, particularly those in need, have a brighter future through collaboration with numerous organizations.
I worked with EHAI as a UX designer for over 20 weeks in 2022 and 2023. Since the website was out of date, I worked on revamping it to make it more user-friendly and easy to get around. In 20 weeks, I delivered a full set of responsive web design, and a detailed design system, and worked with a team of front-end engineers and UX designers to bring the design to life.

The Challenge
EHAI's old website design struggles with several issues that hinder its effectiveness. The layout suffers from an unclear hierarchy, making it difficult for visitors to navigate and prioritize information. Its outdated design fails to make a strong impression, and the lack of responsiveness creates a poor user experience across devices. Additionally, confusing elements on the site contribute to a sense of disorganization, leaving the audience unsure of EHAI’s purpose. These shortcomings dilute the message intended for their audience, particularly investors, who are less likely to trust or engage with an organization that doesn't convey clarity and professionalism.
The Solution
Enhance EHAI's website for a user-friendly, visually appealing experience. Prioritize clear information structure, intuitive navigation, and mobile responsiveness. Implement compelling content, accessible design, and seamless donation options to engaged visitors, boost support, and amplify EHAI's nonprofit mission to regularly measure and refine for ongoing success.

Retrospective
Effective Communication and Collaboration:
-
We've done well in staying in touch with stakeholders, but I've learned that we could have been better by meeting more frequently than once per week. Establishing more structured design review processes would have made it simpler to clear up misunderstandings and share information, ensuring everyone's input is valued.
Optimized Tool Usage:
-
In our UX design project, we made a strong effort while recognizing room for improvement. Effective use of tools like Zeplin and Figma improved project efficiency, emphasizing the importance of continuous learning. Clear workflows for sharing design assets need to be improved, so it could enhance a more seamless collaboration between designers and engineers.
Team Morale and Motivation:
-
Appreciating the significance of fostering a positive and collaborative team environment was a crucial takeaway. Creating a supportive environment makes a big impact in the work and the people you work with. Understanding how team motivation works allowed me to prioritize well-being and productivity, monitor workloads, and handle communication concerns. Proactively finding solutions benefits the whole team.
